LG GULF MARKS WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
WITH CSR INITIATIVE
Company’s Global CSR Program Designed to Empower Local Communities
DUBAI, October 10, 2019 – As part of its global corporate social responsibility (CSR) mandate, LG Electronics (LG) advocates each of its regional markets to participate in increased integration with their local communities.
LG’s CSR framework aims to strike a balance between customer-value creation and impacting the environment, economy and wider society at large. As an ethical corporate citizen, LG believes it can use its global footprint to amplify worthy causes, providing the voice they deserve to truly create positive change.
In its efforts to take an active role and increase its positive social impact locally, LG Electronics Gulf has collaborated with the Special Needs Future Development Center (SNF) – a specialized learning development and training center in Dubai which provides educational programs and support to young adults with special needs, helping develop their mental and physical capabilities.
During an event held today at the company’s regional headquarters for the Middle East and Africa, students and teachers from the Development Center were invited to visit LG’s office, hosting ‘It’s Handmade’ – a pop-up shop where young adults with special needs and their teachers create and sell handmade products to demonstrate their creativity.
LG employees were given the opportunity to purchase the products and art pieces, with the proceeds going directly back to the Development Center for future initiatives and funding.
“One of LG’s most important goals regarding CSR is to take care of the communities in which we operate. Our collaboration with The Special Needs Future Development Center is just one of the methods by which we are able to stay true to our core principles of diversity, inclusion and championing creativity. We are proud to be working with the center to encourage people of determination to become self-reliant, knowing they have a voice within our society. We look forward to working with more local institutions in the coming months and years to uplift communities in the region,” said Mr. Hong Ju Jeon, President of LG Electronics Gulf.
Commenting on the partnership, Mrs. Safia Bari, Director, SNF Development said, “Our center stresses the need for society to work together. Students, parents, therapists, teachers, learning support professionals and the greater Dubai community can work cohesively to maximize each student’s full potential. The ‘It’s Handmade’ pop-up shop is one of many initiatives we offer, where large corporations can help assist our cause. We are grateful to LG for the opportunity and will continue to champion equality and visibility for all.”
