LG Sponsors Dead Sea Ultra Marathon

Amman, Jordan (March 2012) – LG electronics has confirmed its commitment, for the 19th consecutive year, in sponsoring the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon, which will be held under the patronage of HRH Feras Bin Ra’ad, and in participation with the Greater Amman Municipality, the event will take place on 6th of April 2012.

 

LG, the official marathon sponsor, is committed to supporting this social, humane and athletic event annually, for its noble goals in reaching out and helping neurological patients. Since the LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon’s inception, all proceeds have went to assist the Neurological Society in raising awareness in regards to neurological cases, in addition to covering the treatment of patients. LG believes in a healthy future, the company takes pride in having an active role in supporting the Society, and funding this charitable cause.

 

From his end, Managing Director of LG Electronics Levant – Jordan, Mr. Tae Hun Ryu, said, “This is my very first participation with the marathon, and I am very excited to be a part of this international event. This year represents our 19th year of commitment in sponsoring this charitable marathon; and this shows LG’s positive contribution towards the local society, and the company’s support in encouraging athletic activities, and healthy lifestyles”.

 

It is expected that more than 8,000 runners representing 52 different countries will be participating in the event. This in turn enhances the marathons position as one of the most important, and notable initiatives, both internationally and locally, in terms of its atheism, tourism and philanthropic attributes. In addition, the marathon is the main funder for the Neurological Society’s, which was established to increase awareness, and to educate people regarding neurological diseases, and to provide necessary treatments.  The Society has treated more than 1500 cases, where treatments and operations are at a value of one million Jordanian Dinars.

 

The Marathon includes different tracks, and categories for runners, accommodating different ages, and different abilities, from amateurs, to professionals. The Ultra Marathon (50 km), in addition to 10 km, 21 km, 42 km, and the 4.2 km race for children. The 50 km ultra marathon will take runners from the starting point at Al Sinaa traffic light, after the 8th circle, to the airport road, and making their way to the Dead Sea Amman Tourist Beach. The rest of the races will be gathering at the King Hussein Park and concluding at the Dead Sea. 

 

It is worth mentioning, that the Autostrad Troupe will be presenting a musical show during the celebration and winner’s coronation.
