How heat pumps work
Heat pumps get their name because they transfer heat energy from a lower-temperature source to a higher-temperature space, effectively "pumping" heat against its natural flow.

While a gas furnace uses a fuel source to generate heat through electricity or a chemical reaction, a heat pump uses refrigerant to absorb heat from one side of the system and expel it from the other.
The difference between types of heat pumps
While a fixed-speed heat pump has “on” and “off,” an inverter heat pump operates only as much as necessary, without over-conditioning the space or consuming excessive energy.
