Most audio problems are caused by incorrect menu settings on the TV or external devices. Performing a Sound Test will either confirm or eliminate the TV as the source of the problem. The following sections will help determine the audio problem when an external device is attached to the TV.

What version of WebOS do you have?

Perform a Sound Test.
- Press the Settings button on the LG remote control and select All Settings > Sound > Sound Test.
- Follow the on screen prompts based of the Sound Test result.
- If the Sound Test revealed a TV sound problem, please proceed to our Request a Repair page. If there is sound from the TV, please proceed to No Audio.
Sound Test will default all sound out settings on the TV back to Internal TV Speakers

- Select Sound > No Sound from the category list.
- Follow on screen steps to resolve your sound issue. If troubleshooting is unable to correct your sound problem, please proceed to our Request a Repair page.

Distorted audio can be caused by faulty audio circuitry in either the TV or external audio systems. Another likely cause of audio distortion is the external device.
- Check a different content source (internal app, TV channel, another device, etc.) to see if the distortion is still present.
- If the audio distortion is only present from a single device, then the TV is unlikely the cause. However, if the audio distortion is on all channels or from multiple devices (If using an external device, try swapping out the HDMI/optical cable and retest).
- Perform an A/V Reset
- Exit all internal TV apps and menus
- Press the MUTE button on the LG TV remote 3 times
- SELECT A MENU will appear
- Select A/V Reset
- Reconfigure the Sound Out settings on the LG TV and retest.
PERFORMING AN AV RESET WILL RESTORE ALL AUDIO AND VIDEO SETTINGS TO FACTORY SETTINGS

Low audio can be caused by a low level incoming audio stream, or by incorrect menu settings on the TV.
- If using the Internal TV Speakers, try a different content source to see if low volume continues. If you have an external sound source attached:
- Check if the connecting cable is secure.
- Check if the external device volume control is set to the correct level.
- Use a different input on the TV or external sound source to ensure there are no issues with the input you are currently using.
- Ensure all sound settings in the TV sound menu are set correctly to work with the A/V system.
- If the problem continues, please reach out to the manufacturer of the external sound device.

- Check an alternative external source with the sound system, such as a Blu-ray player, DVD or Gaming Console. If there is still no sound, then the external sound system is likely to be faulty. If there is sound, then proceed to the next step.

- Check if the correct input is selected on the TV.
- Check if the external source is switched on.
- Check if the audio connector is secure at both the external source and the TV.

- If the external source, such as a cable or satellite box has a volume control, check if the setting is muted or set at a low volume.
- If possible test with an alternative external sound source, such as a Blu-ray player, DVD or Gaming Console. If no audio is present, then the TV may require service.

- Check an alternative external source with the sound system. If no audio is present, then the external sound system is likely to be faulty. If there is sound, then proceed to the next step.
- Check with an internal source on the TV, such as a Premium Application. If no audio is present, proceed to schedule a repair service from our Request a Repair page.
